Résultats d'une étude multinationale incluant 947.454 femmes (âge moyen 56 ans) :

les risques post-chirurgicaux de thrombose veineuse profonde et d'embolie pulmonaire sont substantiellement augmentés pendant 12 semaines après l'intervention.

Ces risques varient par type d'intervention et sont particulièrement élevés après chirurgie de la hanche ou du genou, ou pour un cancer.

Results of a multinational study including 947,454 women (mean age 56 years): The risk of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism after surgery is substantially increased in the first 12 postoperative weeks, and varies considerably by type of surgery. There are higher relative risks after inpatient surgery for hip or knee replacement and for cancer.
